XEROX Scholarships

  • Xerox is LAESA-SHPE’s greatest sponsor and as such it is our pleasure to present our members with the Xerox Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded in the annual LAESA-SHPE Gala Banquet/Alumni Dinner.
  • Award Amount: ranging between $500-$1,000 for each category

1.  Xerox Hispanic Academic Achievement Award

 

• Scholarships to be awarded: 4-6

• Amount: $1000

• Xerox Academic Achievement Awards will be awarded to student members that demonstrate one or more of the following:

 

Academic Excellence - demonstrates academic excellence while maintaining involvement in extracurricular activities.

 

• Involvement in student organization (Professional/Academic) and City College School Activities

• Upper Sophomore (45 credits or more)

• 3.2 G.P.A or better

 

Achievements in Engineering/Science -  has demonstrate the use of engineering/science in a practical application such as Internships, Research or Class Projects.

 

• Experience must have taken place within the last year

• Internship/Research/Project experience within a company or school

• 3.0 G.P.A or better

 

Improved Academic Record - -          demonstrates a strong improvement academically within the last two semesters. This member needs to be a full time student for the last two semesters.

 

• Demonstrated a strong increase academically within the last two semesters

• Full time student for the last two semesters

• Upper sophomore (45 credits or more)

• A PLUS! - Outside responsibilities (Examples: Working, Volunteering, Parenting, etc)

 

1.  Xerox Hispanic Professional Development Award

 

• Scholarships to be awarded: 4-6

• Amount: $1000

• Xerox Professional Development Award Participation Awards will be awarded to students that demonstrate one or more of the following:

 

Technical Contribution - any type of technical contributions to the school or a Professional/Academic association.

 

• Any type of technical contributions to a Professional/Academic Association or the City College

Community

• A PLUS! - Winning any type of technical contest on behalf of City College (Examples: Web site

competition, Design Contest, any contest on other engineering student organizations, etc)

• 3.0 G.P.A or better

 

Leadership -  -          has taken a leadership role within a student organization.

 

• Shows strong leadership skills.

• 3.0 G.P.A or better

 

Outstanding Dedication - has demonstrated exceptional devotion to a student organization and has contributed the general success, progression and legacy of the organization during the past year.

 

• Must have been a member for at least two full semesters

• Must have demonstrated a high level of participation in events while maintaining good academic standing

• 3.0 G.P.A or better

 

 

1.  Xerox Hispanic Community Service Award

 

• Scholarships to be awarded: 2-3

• Amount: $1000

• Xerox Community Service Award will be awarded to a student member that demonstrates the following:

 

Community Outreach -          This scholarship is awarded to students with the strong participation in Community-Based Activities.

 

• Strong Participation in Community-Based Activities (Examples: Tutoring Services, Mentoring, Volunteering, etc) while maintaining good academic standing.
