About
Sixteen years ago, the Latin American Engineering Student Association chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (LAESA-SHPE), with the concern for the high dropout rate of Latinos in high school and their low representation in the math, science and engineering fields, organized a yearly Pre-College Event to encourage students to finish high school and consider engineering as a career. This event gives the students an opportunity to participate in a number of activities that give them leadership, professionalism, interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as valuable career and financial aid information.
